Test Average Calculator (Score Needed on Remaining Tests) by TheCalcTools
How the Test Average Calculator (Score Needed on Remaining Tests) works
Average = sum of scores ÷ number of tests. To finish at the target over all tests: needed average = (target × total tests − sum so far) ÷ remaining tests.
This assumes all tests count equally. For weighted categories (homework, midterm, final) use the weighted grade calculator.
The formula
Worked example
Using the default values shown in the calculator:
| Scores so far (%) | 78, 85, 69, 91 |
|---|---|
| Tests remaining | 2 |
| Target average (%) | 85 |
- Scores 78, 85, 69, 91 average 80.75%.
- To finish at 85% you need 93.50% on each of the 2 remaining tests.
Result:
| Current average | 80.75% |
|---|---|
| Average needed on each remaining test | 93.50% |
| Verdict | Reachable |
| Lowest score so far | 69% |
| Highest score so far | 91% |
