How the Final Grade Calculator works
Enter your grade before the final, the exam’s weight and your target.
The part of your grade from earlier work is current grade × (1 − final weight).
Solve for the exam score that tops up to the target.
The formula
Needed = (goal − current × (1 − w)) ÷ ww = final exam weight as a fraction
Worked example
Using the default values shown in the calculator:

- Needed = (85 − 82 × 0.70) ÷ 0.30 = 92.0%.
