Weighted Grade Calculator by TheCalcTools
How the Weighted Grade Calculator works
Enter each score and the weight of that assessment in the course.
The tool multiplies each score by its weight, adds them and divides by the total weight.
Leave unused rows at weight 0.
The formula
Grade = Σ(score × weight) ÷ Σ(weight)
Worked example
Using the default values shown in the calculator:
| Score 1 (%) | 88 % |
|---|---|
| Weight 1 (%) | 20 % |
| Score 2 (%) | 76 % |
| Weight 2 (%) | 20 % |
| Score 3 (%) | 92 % |
| Weight 3 (%) | 30 % |
| Score 4 (%) | 81 % |
| Weight 4 (%) | 30 % |
| Score 5 (%) | 0 % |
| Weight 5 (%) | 0 % |
- (88×20 + 76×20 + 92×30 + 81×30) ÷ 100 = 84.70%.

|---|---|
| Total weight entered | 100% |
| Letter grade (US scale) | B |
Frequently asked questions
Do the weights have to add up to 100?
No. The calculator divides by the total weight, so it works for partial results, for example mid-semester.
Why is my grade not a plain average?
Weighted grades give bigger assessments, like exams, more influence than small ones, like quizzes.
