Unit Price Calculator by TheCalcTools
How the Unit Price Calculator works
Enter the price and quantity for each product, in the same unit.
The calculator divides price by quantity to get the unit price.
The lower unit price is the better deal, and the percentage shows how much cheaper it is.
The formula
Unit price = price ÷ quantitySaving = |unit price A − unit price B| ÷ the higher unit price
Worked example
Using the default values shown in the calculator:
| Product A price | $4.99 |
|---|---|
| Product A quantity | 12 |
| Product B price | $8.49 |
| Product B quantity | 24 |
- A: $4.99 ÷ 12 = $0.42 per unit. B: $8.49 ÷ 24 = $0.35 per unit.
- Better deal: Product B, saving 14.9% per unit.
Result:
| Product A unit price | $0.42 |
|---|---|
| Product B unit price | $0.35 |
| Better deal | Product B |
| Saving per unit | 14.9% |
Frequently asked questions
Is the bigger pack always cheaper?
Not always. Promotions on small packs can beat bulk prices, so compare unit prices.
What if the units differ?
Convert both to the same unit first, for example ounces to grams, otherwise the comparison is meaningless.
