Discount Calculator by TheCalcTools
How the Discount Calculator works
Enter the original price and the discount percentage.
If a second coupon applies after the first, add it as an extra discount.
Successive discounts multiply, so two discounts never add up to their plain sum.
The formula
Sale price = price × (1 − discount)Two discounts: price × (1 − d₁) × (1 − d₂)
Worked example
Using the default values shown in the calculator:
| Original price | $120 |
|---|---|
| Discount | 25 % |
| Extra discount (optional) | 0 % |
- Price after 25% off = $120 × 0.75 = $90.00.
- You save $30.00 (25.00% in total).
Result:
| Price you pay | $90.00 |
|---|---|
| You save | $30.00 |
| Total discount | 25.00% |
Frequently asked questions
Why is 20% off plus 10% off not 30% off?
The second discount applies to the already reduced price, so the combined result is 28%.
How do I find the original price from a sale price?
Divide the sale price by (1 − discount). For $75 after 25% off: 75 ÷ 0.75 = $100.
