How the Time Zone Converter works
Choose the date and time in the starting place, then pick where it is and where you want the time for. The calculator finds the exact moment in time, then shows it in the other time zone.
Time zones use the IANA time zone database built into your browser, so daylight saving changes are applied for the date you choose. That matters because places switch on different dates: the gap between London and New York, for instance, changes for a few weeks each spring and autumn. Always check the date when you schedule across the clocks-change weekends.
The formula
Worked example
9:00 AM in New York on 10 October 2026, shown in Dubai:
| From | New York, October 10, 2026, 9:00 AM |
|---|---|
| To | Dubai, Abu Dhabi |
- New York is on daylight time (UTC−4) and Dubai is UTC+4 all year.
- Difference: +8 h.
- Time in Dubai: Sat, Oct 10, 2026, 5:00 PM (UTC: Sat, Oct 10, 2026, 1:00 PM).
Result:
| Time there | Sat, Oct 10, 2026, 5:00 PM |
|---|---|
| Difference from the starting place | +8 h |
| Same moment in UTC | Sat, Oct 10, 2026, 1:00 PM |
Frequently asked questions
How does daylight saving time affect this?
The converter applies the rules for the date you choose, so results are right even when only one of the two places has changed its clocks.
What if my city is not listed?
Choose a city in the same time zone. Many places share a zone with a larger city nearby.
Why does the difference change during the year?
Because places start and end daylight saving on different dates, or do not use it at all.
Can I use it to schedule a meeting?
Yes. Convert the proposed time to the other location and check that it is a reasonable hour for everyone there.
