Pomodoro Calculator (Sessions, Breaks and Finish Time) by TheCalcTools
How the Pomodoro Calculator (Sessions, Breaks and Finish Time) works
The Pomodoro Technique, created by Francesco Cirillo, alternates focused work blocks (classically 25 minutes) with short breaks, and a longer break after every four blocks.
The number of blocks is the focus goal divided by the block length, rounded up. There is no break after the last block.
The formula
Worked example
Using the default values shown in the calculator:
| Focus time you want | 180 min |
|---|---|
| Focus block length | 25 min |
| Short break | 5 min |
| Long break | 20 min |
| Long break after every | 4 blocks |
| Start time | 09:00 |
- 3 hours of focus = 8 blocks of 25 minutes with 50 min (6 short, 1 long) of breaks.
- Starting at 9:00 AM you finish at 1:10 PM.
Result:
| Focus blocks | 8 |
|---|---|
| Break time | 50 min (6 short, 1 long) |
| Total session length | 250 |
| Finish time | 1:10 PM |
