Hours Worked Calculator by TheCalcTools
How the Hours Worked Calculator works
Enter your start and end times on a 24-hour clock.
If the end is earlier than the start, the shift is treated as running overnight.
Subtract the unpaid break, then multiply by days and pay rate for weekly totals.
The formula
Paid minutes = end − start (+ 24 h if overnight) − breakWeekly pay = paid hours × days × hourly rate
Worked example
Using the default values shown in the calculator:
| Start hour (0–23) | 9 |
|---|---|
| Start minute | 0 |
| End hour (0–23) | 17 |
| End minute | 30 |
| Unpaid break (minutes) | 30 |
| Days worked per week | 5 |
| Hourly pay (optional) | $20 |
- 09:00 to 17:30 is 8 h 30 min; less a 30 min break = 8 h 0 min (8.00 h).
- Over 5 days that is 40.00 hours, or $800.00 at $20 an hour.
Result:
| Paid time per day | 8 h 0 min |
|---|---|
| Decimal hours per day | 8.00 |
| Hours per week | 40.00 |
| Weekly pay | $800.00 |
