How the Bitcoin Mining Profitability Calculator works
About 144 blocks are found a day (one every ten minutes on average). Your expected share is your hashrate divided by the network’s, so daily bitcoin = share × 144 × reward × (1 − pool fee).
Electricity = power × 24 hours × price. Network hashrate, difficulty, price and fees change constantly, and halvings cut the subsidy every 210,000 blocks, so re-check before buying hardware. Crypto prices are volatile; this is arithmetic, not investment advice.
The formula
Worked example
Using the default values shown in the calculator:
| Your hashrate (TH/s) | 200 |
|---|---|
| Power draw (W) | 3500 |
| Network hashrate (EH/s) | 900 |
| Block reward incl. fees (BTC) | 3.2 |
| Bitcoin price | $70000 |
| Electricity price per kWh | $0.08 |
| Pool fee | 2 % |
- 200 TH/s of a 900 EH/s network earns about 0.000100 BTC a day ($7.02).
- Electricity costs $6.72, leaving $0.30 a day.
Result:
| Bitcoin mined per day | 0.000100 |
|---|---|
| Revenue per day | $7.02 |
| Electricity per day | $6.72 |
| Profit per day | $0.30 |
| Profit per month (30 days) | $9 |
| Break-even electricity price per kWh | $0.08 |
| Efficiency (J/TH) | 17.5 |
Frequently asked questions
What is a good efficiency?
Lower joules per terahash is better; newer ASICs reach well under 20 J/TH. Efficiency decides whether mining pays at your electricity price.
