How the Bitcoin Halving Calculator (Next Halving and Block Reward) works
Bitcoin’s block subsidy started at 50 BTC and halves every 210,000 blocks, about every four years. The fourth halving, at block 840,000 in April 2024, cut it to 3.125 BTC.
The date estimate assumes blocks keep arriving at the average interval you enter; difficulty adjustments keep it close to 10 minutes.
The formula
Worked example
Using the default values shown in the calculator:
| Current block height | 970000 |
|---|---|
| Today | 2026-10-17 |
| Average minutes per block | 10 |

- The next halving is at block 1,050,000, 80,000 blocks away, around 24 April 2028.

|---|---|
| Next halving at block | 1,050,000 |
| Blocks remaining | 80,000 |
| Estimated date | 24 April 2028 |
