How the APGAR Score Calculator works
Virginia Apgar’s score rates five signs from 0 to 2 at 1 and 5 minutes after birth (and later if low). A total of 7 to 10 is reassuring.
The score describes the baby’s condition at that moment; it does not predict long-term health on its own. Assessment is done by the delivery team.

Frequently asked questions
Is a 1-minute score of 6 a problem?
Many healthy babies score lower at 1 minute and improve by 5 minutes. The 5-minute score is more informative.
