Room Area Calculator by TheCalcTools
How the Room Area Calculator works
Measure the main rectangle of the room, then any extra rectangle for an L-shape.
Choose feet or meters.
Total area is the sum of the rectangles; results are shown in common units.
The formula
Area = length × width (summed over sections)Perimeter of a rectangle = 2 × (length + width)
Worked example
Using the default values shown in the calculator:
| Main section length | 14 |
|---|---|
| Main section width | 12 |
| Extra section length (optional) | 0 |
| Extra section width (optional) | 0 |
| Measured in | Feet |
- 14 × 12 = 168.0 sq ft = 15.61 sq m.
- That is 18.67 sq yd; the main section perimeter is 52.0 ft.
Result:
| Area (sq ft) | 168.0 |
|---|---|
| Area (sq m) | 15.61 |
| Area (sq yd) | 18.67 |
| Perimeter of main section (ft) | 52.0 |
