Commute Cost Calculator by TheCalcTools
How the Commute Cost Calculator works
Enter your one-way distance and the number of days you commute.
Fuel is round-trip miles ÷ MPG × price.
Add parking and a per-mile allowance for tires, maintenance and depreciation.
The formula
Daily = 2 × distance ÷ MPG × fuel price + parking + 2 × distance × wear rateYearly = daily × work days
Worked example
Using the default values shown in the calculator:
| One-way distance (miles) | 14 |
|---|---|
| Work days per year | 230 |
| Car fuel economy (MPG) | 28 |
| Fuel price per gallon | $3.6 |
| Parking per day | $6 |
| Wear and tear per mile | $0.12 |
- Fuel per day = 28 ÷ 28 × $3.60 = $3.60.
- Total with parking and wear = $12.96 a day, $248 a month, $2,981 a year over 6,440 miles.
Result:
| Fuel per day | $3.60 |
|---|---|
| Total cost per day | $12.96 |
| Per month | $248 |
| Per year | $2,981 |
| Miles driven per year | 6,440 |
