Telecom Site CO₂ Emissions Calculator by TheCalcTools

How the Telecom Site CO₂ Emissions Calculator works

Enter monthly diesel use, grid energy and any solar energy.

Diesel emissions use about 2.68 kg CO₂ per litre; grid emissions use your grid factor.

Solar avoided emissions assume it displaces grid energy.

The formula

CO₂ = litres × diesel factor + kWh × grid factor

Worked example

Using the default values shown in the calculator:

Diesel burned per month (litres)350
Grid energy per month (kWh)2400
Solar energy per month (kWh)0
Diesel emission factor (kg CO₂ per litre)2.68
Grid emission factor (kg CO₂ per kWh)0.4
  1. Diesel: 350 × 2.68 = 938 kg; grid: 2,400 × 0.40 = 960 kg.
  2. Total = 1,898 kg a month, 22.78 tonnes a year.

Result:

Diesel CO₂ per month (kg)938
Grid CO₂ per month (kg)960
Total per month (kg)1,898
Total per year (tonnes)22.78
Avoided by solar per year (tonnes)0.00

Frequently asked questions

Where does 2.68 kg/L come from?

It is the combustion factor for diesel often used in greenhouse-gas inventories (about 2.6–2.7 kg CO₂ per litre, depending on the source). Use your reporting standard’s value.

Which grid factor should I use?

Take your national or utility factor for the reporting year. The default is a placeholder, not an official figure.
