Photo Print Size Calculator (Pixels, DPI and Megapixels) by TheCalcTools
How the Photo Print Size Calculator (Pixels, DPI and Megapixels) works
Print size = pixels ÷ DPI. At 300 pixels per inch, a 6000 × 4000 image prints at 20 × 13.3 inches with full detail.
Large prints are viewed from further away, so lower DPI still looks sharp: a poster seen from 2 m needs far fewer pixels per inch than a photo held in the hand.
The formula
Inches = pixels ÷ DPI
Worked example
Using the default values shown in the calculator:
| Image width (pixels) | 6000 |
|---|---|
| Image height (pixels) | 4000 |
| Print resolution (DPI or PPI) | 300 |
- 6000 × 4000 at 300 DPI prints at 20.0 × 13.3 in (50.8 × 33.9 cm), 24.0 megapixels.
Result:
| Print size (inches) | 20.0 × 13.3 in |
|---|---|
| Print size (cm) | 50.8 × 33.9 cm |
| Megapixels | 24.0 |
| Aspect ratio | 3:2 |
