Number to Words Converter (Cheque Writing, Lakh and Crore) by TheCalcTools

How the Number to Words Converter (Cheque Writing, Lakh and Crore) works

The international system groups digits in threes: thousand, million, billion, trillion. India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Nepal use lakh (100,000) and crore (10,000,000), so 1,234,567 is 12 lakh 34 thousand 567.

On cheques the whole amount is written in words and the cents (or paisa) as a fraction over 100, which makes the amount hard to alter.

The formula

1 lakh = 100,000; 1 crore = 100 lakh = 10,000,000
