How the NFT Profit Calculator (Royalties, Marketplace Fees and Gas) works
When an NFT sells, the marketplace takes its fee and the creator royalty (if enforced) from the sale price; you receive the rest. Gas for buying, approving and listing adds to your cost.
Break-even is the cost divided by the share of the sale you keep. Crypto prices are volatile; this is arithmetic, not investment advice.
The formula
Worked example
Using the default values shown in the calculator:
| Buy price (ETH) | 0.8 |
|---|---|
| Sell price (ETH) | 1.2 |
| Marketplace fee | 2.5 % |
| Creator royalty | 5 % |
| Gas for buying and listing (ETH) | 0.004 |
| ETH price | $3000 |
- Buying at 0.8 ETH and selling at 1.2 ETH after 7.5% of fees and 0.004 ETH gas: 0.3060 ETH ($918.00).
- Break-even sale price 0.8692 ETH.
