Degrees to Radians Converter by TheCalcTools

How the Degrees to Radians Converter works

Enter the angle and choose whether it is in degrees or radians.

Degrees are converted by multiplying by π ÷ 180, and radians by multiplying by 180 ÷ π.

The trig functions are evaluated on the angle in radians.

The formula

radians = degrees × π ÷ 180degrees = radians × 180 ÷ π

Worked example

Using the default values shown in the calculator:

Angle90
UnitDegrees
  1. 90° × π ÷ 180 = 1.5708 radians.
  2. sin 90° = 1.0000 and cos 90° = 0.0000.
  3. tan 90° is undefined.

Result:

Radians1.5708
Degrees90.0000
sin1.0000
cos0.0000
tanundefined

Frequently asked questions

Why do mathematicians use radians?

Radians make calculus formulas simple. The derivative of sin x is cos x only when x is in radians.

How many degrees is one radian?

About 57.2958°.
