Attendance Calculator (75% Rule: Classes to Attend or Skip) by TheCalcTools
How the Attendance Calculator (75% Rule: Classes to Attend or Skip) works
Attendance % = classes attended ÷ classes held × 100. Many universities in India and Pakistan require 75% to sit exams, and some schools require 80% or more.
To recover, if you attend the next n classes: (attended + n) ÷ (held + n) ≥ target, so n = ⌈(target × held − attended) ÷ (1 − target)⌉. If you are above the target, you can miss m classes while (attended) ÷ (held + m) ≥ target.
The formula
Worked example
Using the default values shown in the calculator:
| Classes held so far | 60 |
|---|---|
| Classes attended | 42 |
| Required attendance | 75 % |
| Classes left this term (optional) | 30 |
- 42 of 60 classes = 70.00%.
- Attend the next 12 classes to reach 75%; with all 30 remaining classes you would end at 80.00%.
Result:
| Current attendance | 70.00% |
|---|---|
| Classes you must attend in a row to reach the target | 12 |
| Classes you can miss and stay at the target | 0 |
| Best possible by the end of term (attend all remaining) | 80.00% |
| Status | Reachable this term |
Frequently asked questions
I have 70% attendance. How many classes to reach 75%?
With 42 of 60 attended, you need 12 classes in a row: (42 + 12) ÷ (60 + 12) = 75%.
Do medical leaves count?
That depends on your institution. Some excuse approved leave from the total; ask your department.
