Speed, Distance and Time Calculator by TheCalcTools

How the Speed, Distance and Time Calculator works

Choose the quantity to solve for, then enter the other two.

Speed is distance divided by time; the other two follow by rearranging.

Speed is also shown in m/s and mph.

The formula

speed = distance ÷ timedistance = speed × time

Worked example

Using the default values shown in the calculator:

Solve forSpeed
Speed (km/h)75
Distance (km)150
Time (hours)2
  1. Distance 150 km in 2 hours.
  2. Speed = 150 ÷ 2 = 75.00 km/h.
  3. That is 20.83 m/s, or 46.60 mph.

Result:

Speed (km/h)75.00
Speed (m/s)20.83
Speed (mph)46.60
Distance (km)150.00
Time (hours)2.000

Frequently asked questions

Is this average speed?

Yes. It assumes a constant speed or gives the average over the journey. Stops and traffic lower the average.

How do I convert km/h to m/s?

Divide by 3.6. For example 72 km/h is 20 m/s.
