Pace Converter (min/km, min/mile, km/h, mph) by TheCalcTools

How the Pace Converter (min/km, min/mile, km/h, mph) works

Pace is time per distance and speed is distance per time, so one is the reciprocal of the other. A mile is exactly 1.609344 km.

Race times multiply the pace in seconds per km by the race distance: 5 km, 10 km, 21.0975 km for a half marathon and 42.195 km for a marathon. Seconds in the paces shown are rounded down.

The formula

Speed (km/h) = 3600 ÷ seconds per km; seconds per mile = seconds per km × 1.609344
