Pet Cost Calculator (Yearly and Lifetime Cost) by TheCalcTools

How the Pet Cost Calculator (Yearly and Lifetime Cost) works

Yearly cost = monthly costs × 12 + yearly costs. Lifetime cost adds the one-off setup costs and each year’s cost, growing with the price increase you enter.

Older pets usually cost more: dental work, chronic conditions and end-of-life care can add thousands. Insurance or an emergency fund helps with large surprise bills.

The formula

Yearly = 12 × (food + insurance + grooming) + vet + boardingLifetime = setup + Σ yearly × (1 + increase)^t
