NR-ARFCN to Frequency Calculator (5G) by TheCalcTools

How the NR-ARFCN to Frequency Calculator (5G) works

Choose the direction and enter an NR-ARFCN or a frequency in MHz.

The global frequency raster has three ranges: 5 kHz steps to 3 GHz, 15 kHz from 3 to 24.25 GHz and 60 kHz above.

The tool also hints at the NR band for common frequencies.

The formula

F = F_REF-Offs + ΔF_Global × (N − N_REF-Offs)0–3 GHz: ΔF = 5 kHz; 3–24.25 GHz: 15 kHz, F_offs 3000 MHz, N_offs 600000; >24.25 GHz: 60 kHz, 24250.08 MHz, 2016667

Worked example

Using the default values shown in the calculator:

ConvertNR-ARFCN → frequency
NR-ARFCN (or frequency in MHz)641280
  1. NR-ARFCN 641280 is above 600000, so F = 3000 + (641280 − 600000) × 0.015 = 3,619.200 MHz.
  2. Band hint: n78 / n77 (3.3–3.8 GHz).

Result:

Frequency (MHz)3,619.200
NR-ARFCN641,280
Raster step (kHz)15
Likely NR band (DL)n78 / n77 (3.3–3.8 GHz)

Frequently asked questions

What is 641280?

NR-ARFCN 641280 corresponds to 3619.2 MHz, which is inside n78 and n77.

Does the channel raster equal the synchronisation raster?

No. SSB frequencies use a separate synchronisation raster in each band, so not every ARFCN is a valid SSB location.
