LTE KPI Calculator (Accessibility, Retainability, Mobility) by TheCalcTools

How the LTE KPI Calculator (Accessibility, Retainability, Mobility) works

Enter the counters from your OSS for the period (hour or day).

Accessibility = RRC success × E-RAB success; retainability = abnormal releases ÷ total releases.

Handover success rate is successful executions ÷ attempts.

The formula

RRC SSR = RRC successes ÷ attemptsCSSR = RRC SSR × E-RAB SSR

Worked example

Using the default values shown in the calculator:

RRC connection attempts125000
RRC connection successes124300
E-RAB setup attempts118000
E-RAB setup successes117500
E-RAB abnormal releases (drops)420
E-RAB total releases (normal + abnormal)117000
Handover execution attempts31000
Handover execution successes30650
  1. RRC SSR = 124,300 ÷ 125,000 = 99.44%; E-RAB SSR = 99.58%.
  2. CSSR = 99.02%; drop rate = 0.36%; HOSR = 98.87%.

Result:

RRC setup success rate99.44%
E-RAB setup success rate99.58%
Call setup success rate (RRC × E-RAB)99.02%
E-RAB drop rate0.36%
Handover success rate98.87%

Frequently asked questions

Do vendors use identical counters?

No. Counter names and definitions differ by vendor even where 3GPP TS 32.450 defines the KPI. Map your vendor’s counters to these inputs.

What are typical targets?

Operators commonly target above 99% for accessibility, below 1% drop rate and above 97–98% handover success, but each operator sets its own.
