How the IVF Due Date Calculator works

With IVF the conception date is known exactly. A day-5 blastocyst is already 5 days old at transfer, so the due date is 261 days after transfer (266 − 5); for a day-3 embryo it is 263 days.

Gestational age is counted as if from a last period 2 weeks before conception, so the pregnancy is 2 weeks plus the embryo age at transfer.

The formula

Due date = transfer date + 266 − embryo age (days)

Is an IVF due date more accurate?

The date of conception is certain, but babies still arrive across a range of weeks: only about 4% are born on the due date.
