Exponent Calculator by TheCalcTools

How the Exponent Calculator works

Enter the base and the exponent.

A positive whole exponent means repeated multiplication; a negative exponent means the reciprocal; a fractional exponent means a root.

Very large results may display in rounded form.

The formula

bⁿ = b × b × … × b (n times)b⁻ⁿ = 1 ÷ bⁿ

Worked example

Using the default values shown in the calculator:

Base (b)2
Exponent (n)10
  1. 2¹⁰ means ten 2s multiplied together.
  2. 2¹⁰ = 1,024.
  3. The reciprocal is 1 ÷ 1024 = 0.0010.

Result:

bⁿ1,024.0000
Reciprocal (1 ÷ bⁿ)0.0010
