E-Bike Range Calculator by TheCalcTools
How the E-Bike Range Calculator works
Battery energy in watt-hours = voltage × amp-hours. Range = usable energy ÷ consumption per km.
Consumption depends mostly on how much the motor helps, hills, wind, speed and weight. The presets are typical planning figures; heavier riders use more (scaled here by the square root of weight relative to 80 kg).
The formula
Worked example
Using the default values shown in the calculator:
| Battery voltage (V) | 36 |
|---|---|
| Battery capacity (Ah) | 14 |
| Usable share of the battery | 90 % |
| Assist level and terrain | Medium assist, rolling (10 Wh/km) |
| Rider and cargo weight | 80 |
- 36 V × 14 Ah × 90% = 454 Wh usable.
- At 10 Wh/km: 45 km.
Result:
| Estimated range (km) | 45 |
|---|---|
| Range (miles) | 28 |
| Usable energy (Wh) | 454 |
| Consumption (Wh per km) | 10.0 |
Frequently asked questions
How can I get more range?
Use lower assist, keep tyres pumped up, pedal at a steady cadence and avoid full throttle.
