Time Card Calculator (Hours Worked and Pay) by TheCalcTools
How the Time Card Calculator (Hours Worked and Pay) works
Hours worked = clock-out − clock-in − unpaid break. If the clock-out time is earlier than the clock-in, the shift crossed midnight and 24 hours are added.
Some states (such as California) require daily overtime after 8 hours; US federal law only requires overtime after 40 hours in a week. Set the threshold to match your rules.
The formula
Hours = (out − in − break) ÷ 60
Worked example
Using the default values shown in the calculator:
| Clock in | 08:45 |
|---|---|
| Clock out | 17:30 |
| Unpaid break | 30 min |
| Hourly rate | $22 |
| Overtime after (hours per day) | 8 |
| Overtime multiplier | 1.5 |
- 8:45 AM to 5:30 PM with a 30-minute break: 8 h 15 min (8.25 hours).
- At 22 an hour that pays $184.25.
