Staking Rewards Calculator (APR, APY and Compounding) by TheCalcTools
How the Staking Rewards Calculator (APR, APY and Compounding) works
Staking rewards are quoted as an APR. If rewards are restaked, they compound: coins grow by (1 + APR ÷ n)^(n × years), giving a higher effective APY. Platform or validator commissions reduce the rate.
Rewards are paid in the coin, so the money value depends on its price, which can fall faster than rewards accumulate. Crypto prices are volatile; this is arithmetic, not investment advice.
The formula
Worked example
Using the default values shown in the calculator:
| Coins staked | 32 |
|---|---|
| Reward rate (APR) | 3.2 % |
| Rewards compounded | Daily |
| Period (years) | 2 |
| Price now | $3000 |
| Expected price at the end | $3000 |
| Validator or platform fee | 10 % |
- 32 coins at 3.2% minus a 10% fee, compounded daily for 2 years: 1.8972 coins of rewards.
- Effective APY 2.92%.
Result:
| Rewards earned (coins) | 1.8972 |
|---|---|
| Coins at the end | 33.8972 |
| Effective APY after fees | 2.92% |
| Value at the end | $101,692 |
| Gain in money | $5,692 |
