How the Temperature Converter works
Enter the temperature and choose its scale.
The value is first converted to kelvin, the absolute scale.
Kelvin is then converted to each other scale. Values below absolute zero are rejected.
The formula
°F = °C × 9/5 + 32K = °C + 273.15
Worked example
Using the default values shown in the calculator:
| Temperature | 25 |
|---|---|
| From | Celsius (°C) |
- 25°C = 25 × 9/5 + 32 = 77.00°F.
- 25°C = 25 + 273.15 = 298.15 K.
Result:
| Celsius | 25.00 |
|---|---|
| Fahrenheit | 77.00 |
| Kelvin | 298.15 |
| Rankine | 536.67 |
Frequently asked questions
At what temperature are Celsius and Fahrenheit equal?
At −40°. It is the only point where the two scales give the same number.
What is absolute zero?
0 K, −273.15°C or −459.67°F, the lowest possible temperature where particles have minimal thermal motion.
