Waist-to-Hip Ratio Calculator by TheCalcTools

How the Waist-to-Hip Ratio Calculator works

Measure your waist at the narrowest point or at the navel, and your hips at the widest point.

Divide the waist by the hip measurement.

Compare with the WHO thresholds: 0.90 for men and 0.85 for women.

The formula

WHR = waist ÷ hip

Worked example

Using the default values shown in the calculator:

SexMale
Waist (cm)88
Hip (cm)100
  1. WHR = 88 ÷ 100 = 0.88.
  2. The threshold for men is 0.90.
  3. Result: Below the WHO threshold.

Result:

Waist-to-hip ratio0.880
WHO abdominal obesity threshold0.90
ResultBelow the WHO threshold
