Net Promoter Score Calculator (NPS) by TheCalcTools

How the Net Promoter Score Calculator (NPS) works

NPS asks ‘How likely are you to recommend us?’ on a 0 to 10 scale. NPS = % promoters − % detractors, so it ranges from −100 to +100. Passives count in the total but not in the score.

Benchmarks vary a lot by industry. Track the trend over time and read the comments behind the scores.

The formula

NPS = (promoters − detractors) ÷ responses × 100

Worked example

Using the default values shown in the calculator:

Promoters (scored 9 or 10)220
Passives (scored 7 or 8)130
Detractors (scored 0 to 6)50
  1. 220 promoters, 130 passives and 50 detractors out of 400: NPS = 42.5.

Result:

Net Promoter Score42.5
Promoters55.0%
Passives32.5%
Detractors12.5%
